A Notice Received From Berks Conservation District:

Two mosquito samples that were collected in Tilden Township have tested positive for West Nile Virus.
The mosquito team will conduct extra larval and adult mosquito surveillance to help diminish the potential spread of West Nile.
The risk of West Nile Virus transmission is still fairly low.

We encourage residents to take the following precautions:
1. Stay indoors during peak mosquito hours (Dusk to Dawn)
2. Wear long sleeves, pants, and closed-toed shoes if possible (Exposed skin may be at risk for biting mosquitoes)
3. Wear bug spray (Specifically bug spray containing at least 30% DEET)
4. Remove all standing water from your property (Birdbaths, wheelbarrows, children’s toys etc.- ANY water standing for more than 4 days can begin to breed mosquitoes.)
